Identities, Stories Of Ankara Blast Victims Revealed

Identities of people killed in the Ankara blast revealed several stories from across Turkey, including many young lives.

One of the victims was 16-year-old Mehmet Emre Çakar, who has moved with his family to Ankara from Kütayha province, in a bid to fight a liver disease six years ago.

His father Hikmet Çakar said he was ready to donate his liver to the young boy, before he died. Çakar was in a bus bound to Balgat district of Ankara when the explosion erupted.

Kerim Sağlam, 23 years old, has came from Eskişehir to Ankara to visit her sister. He was killed while waiting for a bus at the transportation hub in Kızılay. His family who could not reach Kerim on the phone found out that the young man was among the victims.

A football star's father was also a victim of the deadly attack in Kızılay, who was in Ankara to watch his son, Umut Bulut, playing for Galatasaray's game, at the tribune. Umut Bulut waved his hand to his father at the beginning of the game. This was the last time he saw Kemal Bulut. Father Kemal Bulut has suddenly decided not to wait after the game and has left the crowded stadium. The father died near an autodresser in Kızılay, founded by Umut Bulut on behalf of his father. Umut Bulut heard about the tragic news when his brother called him on the phone at the dressing room.

A local politician in Republican People's Party (CHP), 65-year-old Mehmet Yurtsever was also killed in the attack.

The deadly blast killed a 20-year-old law student, Nusrettin Can, and his girlfriend from the same faculty, Zeynep Başak Gülsoy. The couple have met on a Sunday evening and were on their way home, waiting for a bus in front of Güvenpark where the explosion occured.

A freshman metallurgical engineering student at the Middle East Technical University, Berkay Baş, was buried in Ankara following a prayer where his parents, two siblings and friends from the university attended.

Feyza Acısu, a 20-year-old student in Gazi University Department of English Language Teaching, was waiting for her bus on her way home, after she left her training class in Kızılay, when the explosion hit Ankara.

A 55-year-old teacher working in a public school, Hamide Sibel Çetinkaya has died after he got off the tube, preparing to take a minibus from Kızılay. Çetinkaya has lost her husband because of cancer three years ago, and had two daughters.

Eyüp Ensar Ulaş, married with two children, was working in a tea house and was inside a bus, while a taxi driver, Turgay Bulut was near the station, when the deadly terror attack occurred.

The deadly bomb attack at the heart of Turkish capital revealed stories of two young close friends, who were both killed at two separate Ankara attacks.

A bomb attack near the central Kızılay district on March 13 killed Ozancan Akkuş, a young electrical and electronic engineering student at the Middle Technical University, while his close friend Ali Deniz Uzatmaz has died after a previous blast near the Ankara Railway Station on October 10.

At least 37 were killed and 122 people were wounded after a deadly explosion hit the heart of Turkish capital, on March 13.
