Morocco - Istanbul Passangers Detained On Suspicion Of Joining The Is

Investigations and legal procedures continue at Ataturk Airport, where some 21 suspects that have been detained at the terminal on suspicion of joining the outlawed Islamic State (IS), after a flight from Morocco to Istanbul. Some 45 passengers have been detained following a tip-off by a passenger suspicious.

Some 45 passengers have been detained following a tip-off by a passenger suspicious of conversations among the group, flying from Casablanca to Istanbul, on Nov. 4, with accusations of attempting to join the IS.

While some 20 passengers among the group have been deported from the country, the remaining 21 passengers have been remanded in custody at the "arrivals / isolated area". On the other hand, four people have been allowed to enter Turkey.

The remaining suspects are expected to be deported to Casablanca in the following hours.

Riot police officers have arrived at the scene for back up support, while anti-terror branches continue profile analysis at the gates of flights from Europe and North Africa in particular, against the IS threat. - Istanbul
